Improving your job performance can appear challenging. You are being asked to look at how you work, what you do and who you are to find areas to act on.
When it comes to job performance, I believe in focusing on being the best version of yourself.
This is something I personally strive to be and try to encourage in others daily. If you can be better than you were yesterday, or even if you have just tried to be, then that is a massive achievement.
It’s important to recognise that we all have within us more to give. It is just a case of whether we want to do it or not. If you don’t challenge yourself and also those around you, then you can’t grow as a person and the business can’t grow as a result of your actions.
So, how can you improve your job performance and show that you are the best you? Try to:
- be a team player and share your knowledge, skills and insight. Champion best practices and encourage your colleagues
- be passionate about what you do and challenge yourself daily
- value your colleagues and embrace their ideas, work and insight
- accept constructive feedback and be open to learning as this shows your commitment to your own personal development
ENGAGE WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES!
What are not acceptable habits and behaviours? Try not to:
- be egotistical as we work as a team and succeed as one. No one person is bigger than the collective
- fall into the trap of not being approachable by your colleagues
- avoid learning opportunities. Not wanting to learn isn’t good. I want you to develop and grow, but you need to commit to your personal development
- avoid being part of the team. Not being a team player isn’t good. Please share your knowledge, ideas and insight
To quote a wise man: “To be the best, surround yourself by the best.”
My final comment today is to remind you that I have failed more than I have succeeded, and I have learnt from both experiences.
However, one thing that has never changed, to this day, is my desire to be better.
It shouldn’t have taken heart failure to achieve heartfelt success. I want to see success in all I work with, and I want to help them achieve it.
