How to Enjoy What You Do

Ever wonder how to enjoy what you do? Do you find fulfilment in your work?

As a passionate person, I always enjoy my work. What drives me is my zeal to acquire more skills and knowledge.

You cannot succeed in business if you do not enjoy what you do. If your only reason for working is because of the money you get from it, you are on the wrong track. There comes a time when money will no longer be enough to satisfy you, and all you require is fulfillment. Nothing beats doing what you love doing and earning from it as well.

A friend shared an inspiring story with me recently. He started his business on the right track, but got lost along the way. He started focusing more on what he was getting from the business and forgot why he started it in the first place. He put so much hard work into his work that he almost lost himself in the process. The stress started weighing him down, and his business started suffering.

He had to start retracing his steps, forcing himself to remember why he started the business in the first place and to stop prioritising money. He gave himself breaks when necessary and, in the end, got his business thriving even more.

To enjoy his work, he:

Became a better version of himself
Learned to share the responsibilities of his company with his team
Stopped prioritising money
Became social at work
Had time for work and fun

As a business owner or an employee, try to go into what you love doing or at least something beyond just what provides money. I spend half of my day at work each day, so I try to make the most of it.

What Leads to You Not Enjoying What You Do?

Not working in a sector you are passionate about
Losing interest in your work or job role: different situations can make you lose interest in what to do
Being pessimistic at all times: sometimes, try to focus more on the good part of things
Focusing more on what you get rather than what you can offer: try not to make money your top priority for working
Working too hard: working hard is good, but know when to stop. The quote says, ”All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. To rephrase it, all work and no play will make you lose interest in what you do. Working without putting interest will make you less productive.

If you are in a job you do not enjoy, you can try changing your mindset. To succeed, whether you are the business owner or an employee, try your best to enjoy what you do or go into something you feel passionate about. Please do not try to be who you are not; you become uncomfortable once you start doing that. Instead, work smart, do your best, and learn to be a team player.
