How to Use SushiSwap

how-to-use-sushiswap

The decentralized exchange (DEX) SushiSwap has been in the headlines recently, after a difficult April. It remains popular, though, so here we look at how to use SushiSwap.

The financial world has been disrupted by blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. Innovative products, such as yield farming, have emerged to give investors creative ways to chase investment returns.

SushiSwap was part of the DEX revolution, earning a place as a front-runner in DeFi technology during 2021. The departure of key figures and the reported failure of a planned union with Frog Nation caused concerns in early 2022.

That led, in April 2022, to confirmation of plans to restructure and create SushiSwap 2.0. A price decline indicated that investors did not initially welcome the ideas.

Despite this, SushiSwap remains a popular player in the DEX world. So, let’s look at what it is and how to use SushiSwap.

Understanding Sushiswap

SushiSwap is an Ethereum-based decentralized exchange that allows you to swap a wide range of tokens and engage in other financial services.

It does not have any officially centralized authority or intermediaries. To complete trades, it instead relies on smart contracts – or code that automates processes – and liquidity provided by other users.

SushiSwap is similar to Uniswap, which also runs on Ethereum, and PancakeSwap, which is based on the Binance Smart Chain.

How to Use SushiSwap

SushiSwap, like Uniswap, is based on an automated market maker (AMM) system that completes transactions using smart contracts.

Other users provide tokens through liquidity pools. Other SushiSwap users have locked up their funds in token pairs to these pools, providing the funds required to complete swaps. They are rewarded with a small percentage of trade fees, known as yield farming.

SushiSwap provides other DeFi features, such as the ability to stake SUSHI coins in the network and earn rewards, participate in lending services, and purchase newly-offered tokens from DeFi startups via its MISO service, in addition to token swaps.

What Makes It Different?

SushiSwap has made significant changes to distinguish itself from its inspiration (and rival), despite starting with Uniswap’s codebase.

The SUSHI token was a DeFi innovation that eventually led to Uniswap taking a similar approach, providing users with an additional means of generating rewards and a say in the DEX’s future.

Furthermore, while Uniswap has raised venture capital and has a core, centralized development team, SushiSwap’s decentralized, community-centric ethos extends beyond the DEX itself.

How to Invest

Before choosing to invest in cryptocurrency or where to do that, you must conduct your own research. If you decide to go ahead, here are three reasons why you might consider this DEX.

  1. DeFi Hub for Passive Income:

Users can use SushiSwap to access liquidity pools. These pools are used to earn fees on the SushiSwap protocol utilising the platform’s supported tokens. This feature is familiar to many DEX platforms.

It also provides this functionality on 14 different blockchain platforms, making it a more robust offering than its older DEX cousin UniSwap. In addition, liquidity providers are rewarded with LP tokens, which can be used for yield farming. Given this, users can find various ways to earn money using the SushiSwap protocol.

  1. Lending with Kashi:

The lending protocol known as Kashi is another helpful tool available on the SushiSwap platform. It is useful for establishing smart contract lending pools where investors can easily lend a token. As a result, lenders can generate high yields on their assets while eliminating impermanent loss, a significant issue in the DeFi ecosystem. What impermanent loss means is that the value of your deposit tokens change from the time you made the deposit.

Kashi Lending also provides investors with information on the amount of collateral available and when an asset will become insolvent.

  1. It’s Decentralized:

SushiSwap aims to attract DeFi users who can fully control their SushiSwap crypto assets. Therefore, it only serves as a trading platform, but you retain complete ownership of all SushiSwap purchases.

Unlike centralized exchanges, it is not constrained by books or records to complete trades. SushiSwap takes the initiative to connect decentralized exchanges to avoid having a third party track its users’ financial records.

A secure, decentralized, and anonymous trade is possible by connecting a user’s wallet to the software. The buyer and seller then use smart contracts to lock assets into a liquidity pool. The pool has protocol rules in place to ensure that both parties receive the exact amount agreed upon.

A Warning

A note of caution, however. SushiSwap is decentralized, which is a positive for some investors, but may not be the right choice for all. If you choose to invest in crypto, spend time researching the right platform. And remember, especially if you go decentralized, you need to keep an eye on regulatory changes and understand how DEX and DeFi work.
